Village Vancouver

Vancouver's Leader in Transition toward Strong, Resilient, Complete Communities

Working Groups

Our working groups focus on three areas: Action, Planning, and Education. We are concerned with building community wide responses to Climate Change, Peak Oil (depletion of natural resources) and economic instability. Our planning focuses on developing a comprehensive Energy Descent Action Plan.

How can individuals, neighbourhoods and communities live well using substantially less energy? What would life be like if we were using 90% less fossil fuels? How do we build more local self reliance and create more local abundance? In deciding to consume less, and to connect more in collaboration with others, and with nature, might life be more fulfilling and satisfying in many ways?

All working groups can be accessed via the upper left column on the home page. Most (but not all) of them can also be accessed by clicking on Groups.

Many members of working groups come from neighbourhood transition villages. This helps ensure input from neighbourhoods into VV, and representation from villages in the VV core group.

Most all working groups are by membership only, just to reduce the kinds of cross-chatter than can flood the inboxes of all of our members, and reduce productivity. We are also interested in keeping the working groups relatively small to promote efficiency.

That said, if you have a special interest or expertise, please first blog about it in our Discussion areas so that you might introduce yourself to us. You may find you are quickly invited to join a Working Group, but if not, please then simply ask.

Many hands make light work, too many spoil the soup.

Village engages individuals, neighbourhoods & organizations to take actions that build sustainable communities & have fun doing it. Join us!
